Awards are one way the canon of children’s literature is established. When one thinks of awards for children’s literature, the Caldecott and the Newberry are often the two that come to mind. However, there are many other awards both regional and for specific genres of books. Awards for online resources and new media are less codified. I am considering a recommendation as equivalent to a more formal award in the case of children’s literature. Enjoy!
